Pastor Hoffman served local churches the first ten years of his public ministry. In 1967 he volunteered for the military chaplaincy. For 25 years he traveled the world as an Army chaplain, retiring in 1992.
Since then he has gone in and out of retirement doing short term interim pastorates. In 2004 he earned a doctoral degree from a Methodist seminary in Claremont, California at 72 years of age.
Being slowed down by the loss of his wife to ovarian cancer, a stroke, a disability from Viet Nam, by-pass and cancer surgery, he was on the verge of throwing in the towel. Instead, he decided to crawl off the couch and explore the blogosphere while travelling the world. His philosophy can be summarized by the inspirational phrase: “Trying is winning.”
